Meet Anna. Our community member in the UK. Actually I’ve never met Anna… shocking I know. But she’s been a great part of our community for the past three months. She’s finished her Sober Curious Yoga Teacher Trainning and is doing her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Trainning with Alex. The two met through social media (how awesome is social media that connects people from all over the world!). Anna agreed to do this interview for the MLPC and we can’t thank her enough for her amazing answers and great photos! Here we go…
Hi Anna! Tell us a little bit about yourself! Who is Anna?
Anna: I am Anna and I’m based in Dorset, England. I live with my Spanish partner Miguel, our dog Sooki & I have a horse called Arnold.
When I’m not doing yoga, our happy place is out in our converted camper van in the forest or at the beach doing some cold water sea swims.
How did you meet Alex?
Anna: MLPC & Alex came up on my Instagram feed. I’ve always wanted to do my YTT but for some reason this course spoke to me and I decided to sign up to the 30 hour SCY YTT & 200 hour YTT & I’m so glad I did as it was definitely meant to be.
What inspired you to start practicing yoga? Have you ever had any experience with yoga before joining the MLPC?
Anna: I started practicing yoga for fitness a few years ago, then after a while and having different teachers I started to learn that it was way more than that.
What are the biggest benefits you’ve reaped from your yoga practice?
Anna: Yoga to me is a way of life, it’s improved everything from my sleep, my perception and relationship with myself, my relationships with others, my thoughts about the universe and our existence, and the list goes on and on.
What’s your favorite posture?
Anna: My favourite posture is utthita-hasta-padangushtasana.
What’s your most difficult posture?
Anna: Chaturanga is my most difficult as strength is definitely something that doesn’t come naturally.
What is your favorite type(s) of yoga? And why?
Anna: Ashtanga is my favourite type of yoga, I just love the precision and traditionally taught classes Mysore style.
Any words of wisdom to those just starting out?
Anna: When I first started yoga I remember feeling so overwhelmed by others in my class being ‘better’ and more flexible than I was, but yoga is about your own personal journey. Focus on yourself and trust the process, then the magic of yoga will start happening. xoxo
