Community Interview #27: Jenny

Meet Jenny. Another awesome community member who joins us from Australia. When Alex moved to Bali she was manifesting more community members from that part of the world, Jenny is now one of them. She’s taking her 200 Hour YTT with Alex and almost done with her Sober Curious Yoga Teacher Training. She’s also starting offering her firs Sober Curious Circle this week, YAY!! I caught up with her and interviewed her for our blog, here’s her answers…

Hi Jenny! Tell us a little bit about yourself! Who is Jenny?

Jenny: Hi everyone

I’m Jenny and I live in Australia. I’m 50 years young 😊

I am married and have 2 beautiful children 26 & 24.

I am recovering from an alcohol addiction and mental health illness which I lived with for many years. I am in my 2nd year of recovery and I am loving life. I am also a certified Recovery and Wellness Coach and also a Bee Sober Ambassador. I am also training as a Life Coach with The Beautiful You Life Coaching Academy and I also work 3 days a week as a disability support worker.

How did you meet Alex?

Jenny: I met Alex last August on Instagram scrolling sober pages.

This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and connection

What inspired you to start practicing yoga?

Jenny: I have always dabbled in yoga over the years but while I was in rehab we had a yoga teacher come in 3 days a week and I reignited my love of yoga.

Have you ever had any experience with yoga before joining the MLPC?

Jenny: Yes on and off over the years

What’s your connection to the MLPC?

Jenny: I started as a student in August 2021 and now I am doing my Sober YTT and 200hr YTT.

I try to do at least 5-6 classes a week as well.

It’s great getting to know the other teachers.

How did you end up being so committed to yoga?

Jenny: In my recovery from alcohol addiction I started practising yoga every couple of days and have never stopped as it helped me so much both mentally and physically.

Did you face any challenges during the month of February?

Jenny: No if anything I achieved a dream of being asked by Alex to join the team of MLPC as a teacher which is amazing!

What are the biggest benefits you’ve reaped from your yoga practice?

Jenny: I’ve realised that practising yoga has so many similarities with our everyday lives and how we live. Being silent and still has helped me find myself.

What’s your favorite posture?

Jenny: Child’s pose 😊

What’s your most difficult posture?

Jenny: Lots lol.

What is your favorite type(s) of yoga? And why?

Jenny: I love any type of flow class as it’s a great mind and body workout but also love Restorative.

Any words of wisdom to those just starting out?

Jenny: Just do it!!!!
