Root Chakra Photos - Memories from Canada and Childhood

There are seven chakras in the body, which run along the length of the spine, from the tailbone all the way to the crown of the head. If you are interested in learning more about the chakras, check out this blog post I wrote a few weeks ago where I explained them in detail!

In my new book, coming out soon, Sober Yoga Girl, I used the chakras as a framework for the book. The book is a labor of love, that I worked on over the last four years, and I am so excited to share it with you. If you want to be the first to know when it's released, head to www.soberyogagirl.com and drop your email.

The root chakra is at the base of the spine, and the colour red. It's main themes are being grounded and finding safety and security.

In the Root Chakra section of Sober Yoga Girl, I mostly speak about my childhood and time growing up in Canada. I want to share with you some photos from that time.

The start of the book Sober Yoga Girl begins in Kuwait, and I describe the mosque across the street in Mahboula, Kuwait, where I lived. This is a photo of the mosque and the view out of one of my apartment windows in Kuwait.

In the book Sober Yoga Girl, I write about how I had recently married my husband in Cyprus, and was on the verge of a breakdown as I panicked about that decision that didn't feel right in my gut. This photo was taken the moment we got married. Whilst I look very happy in the photo, I knew in my gut I was making the biggest mistake of my life.

In chapter four of the book, I write about my childhood. This photo was taken of me and my sister in the backyard outside our home in Toronto, Canada, where we spent all of our childhood.

I spent a lot of time growing up at our cottage on Lake Scugog, which was my mom's parents home. This photo is of my grandad, my mom, my nana, my uncle, and me and my sister.

Towards the end of my time at Queen's University, I had an opportunity to teach under an incredible mentor teacher who inspired me to move to the Middle East.
