Meet Matt. One of the many All-Stars for the month of August 2020. Matt and Alex connected via a group on Facebook and he was intrigued by what she offers on the MLPC. Having done his first 30 day challenge, when asked he described it as ‘life changing’.
Matt tried a variety of classes including gentle flow, Pilates, Barre, kundalini, meditation and many more. He was so committed to his practice that even during his vacation in France he kept on flowing everyday. He quickly became a great part of the community and we appreciate the time he took to answer the blog questions...
Hi Matt! Tell us a little bit about yourself! Who is Matt?
Matt: Hi I’m Matt and I’m a primary school teacher living in South east London, UK.
What inspired you to start practicing yoga?
Matt: I wanted to get into more meditation and also I knew yoga would be good for me. Since giving up alcohol I also felt I would be more focussed on it.
Have you ever had any experience with yoga before joining the MLPC?
Matt: A little bit, but basically I am a novice!
What’s your connection to the MLPC?
Matt: I connected with Alex through one year no beer.
How did you end up being so committed to yoga?
Matt: Simply because I love it. For me it’s pure meditation and a wonderful form of exercise. I enjoy learning so much and find in every single session I learn something new.
Did you face any challenges during the month of September so far?
Matt: The odd little injury to deal with, as I do a lot of walking and moving in my life.
What are the biggest benefits you’ve reaped from your yoga practice?
Matt: Fitness, mindfulness and meeting the most wonderful of people across the globe.
What’s your favorite posture?
Matt: Crow! I never thought I’d be able to do it and I think I can!
Also love warrior poses.
What’s your most difficult posture?
Matt: Fish pose. It makes me feel queasy.
What is your favorite type(s) of yoga? And why?
Matt: It’s so hard to pick. I’ve really enjoyed the kundalini and yin yoga with Erin. It’s so meditative. I also have loved all the others.
Any words of wisdom to those just starting out?
Matt: Just go for it. Remember to breathe always and think about how Much you learn as you do it.
Thank you Matt for the short and sweet interview and for being a big part of this community!
